Construction dust can appear in your house from the neighborhood construction process or renovations.

They decrease the glossiness of the walls. So how do you clean construction dust? Well, cleaning post-construction dust is not such a challenging job. Follow these processes to complete the post-construction cleanup.

Process 1

Try to vacuum your whole walls with a vacuum cleaner, and then try to paint the walls with a primer coating. To do it, follow the below-mentioned steps.

Step 1: Use a vacuum cleaner.

  • Choose a shop-vac vacuum cleaner attached to a fine particle bag.
  • Now, use it on the floors to clean the dust.
  • As the floors are filled with dust, the vacuum will clog after a couple of minutes; turn it off.
  • Open the vacuum cleaner’s door and remove its washable HEPA filter.
  • Clean the filter and then attach it to the vacuum again.

Continue the process until most of the construction dust has been removed from your walls.

Step 2: Clean the wall with water.

After most of the dust from construction has gone from the wall, it is now better to completely clean the wall with water. To do it,

  • Take a bucket and fill it with water.
  • Now pour the detergent into it and make a mixture.
  • Dip a soft cloth in that mixture and use it to clean the wall.
  • Wash the walls completely 2 or 3 times with a cloth.
  • Now dip another soft cloth in a bucket filled with clean water to wipe the wall.

This is one of the best ways to clean construction dust from walls.

Process 2

When construction occurs, the neighborhood walls get filled with dust. So how to clean construction dust off painted walls?  Follow these steps to complete the post-construction cleaning

  • After that, add one-fourth teaspoon of white vinegar(a reasonable construction cleaner that removes dust from walls).
  • Mix them perfectly to make a mixture.
  • Keep the mixture in an open place for a couple of minutes so that they can sit together.

Step 2: Wash the wall with an organic solution

  • Dip a sponge into the mixture.

  • Use a sponge or a wet cloth to complete the construction clean up
  • Pour some borax into a water bowl and dip another sponge or cloth.
  • Use that sponge or cloth to complete the post-construction cleanup.

Step 3: Using a cloth, dry the wall.

Use another microfiber cloth to remove all the water and soap by wiping the wall with it. To let the wall dry, open all the windows.

Post-construction dust contains cement, silica, or other microelements. These elements remove the shininess from walls and decrease the glossiness of paints. So try to clean up the dust as soon as possible.

Use a vacuum cleaner to remove most of the dust from the wall. After that, use a cloth and dip it into a soap and water mixture. Use that wet cloth to wipe out the remaining dust. You may also use homemade organic chemical mixtures for this purpose.

Then dip another cloth into a water-filled bucket and use it to wipe the walls completely. At last, open all the windows so that the wall gets enough air to dry after a complete wash.
